How to format heading based on level
















Your paper will have these headings, but do not number the headings (The numbering here is only to illustrate the level of heading). For example, in a research report following the APA style, Methods, Results, and Discussion are specific sections. These three sections are primary sections, and would be considered Level 1 headings. Subsections that are part of a Level 1 heading are considered Level 2, subsections that are of a Level 2 heading are considered Level 3, and so forth. This is an example:
